Jack Hobbs: Hull City weigh up Reading bid

Hull City are weighing up a "substantial offer" for defender Jack Hobbs from Championship side Reading.

Hobbs, 25, has been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season, playing 27 times, and is thought to be keen to remain at the City Ground.

But Hull boss Steve Bruce has warned Forest they will accept Reading's offer if they do not bid for the player.

"The way it stands is we've have a substantial offer from Reading," Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside.

"Ultimately it's always in Jack's hands, but Nottingham Forest have to come to the table and play ball with us."

Hobbs began his career at Lincoln and played for Reading boss Nigel Adkins at Scunthorpe, before signing for Hull for £850,000 in June 2011.

Bruce has said Hobbs is surplus to requirements at the KC Stadium.

"We will be calling Jack on Monday morning and the ball is now in Nottingham Forest's court," he added.

"He is available, we've said that to everybody and we'll see what happens.

"My job is to look after the interests of the club and if somebody is offering us a lot of money then we have to look at it, it's as simple as that.

"We obviously let him go on loan as there were doubts about his knee and we understand that.

"He has gone there and done very well, but if they think they are going to get him for nothing, then we've got a decision to make."
