Ballyclare Comrades defeated East Antrim rivals Carrick Rangers to make the last eight of the Irish Cup.

Kyle Agnew latched onto a long ball and fired under Simon Steele for the home side's opener in the sixth minute.

Daniel Smith blasted the ball into the roof of the net to extend the Comrades' advantage 10 minutes before half-time.

Richard Gibson rifled the ball into the net for his 17th goal of the season on the stroke of half-time but Rangers were unable to find an equaliser.

Carrick have now scored in each of their last 18 competitive games.
