Welling United 0-2 Braintree Town

  • Published

Braintree kept alive their outside chances of a play-off place thanks to a Kenny Davis double at Welling.

Welling almost took an early lead when defender Alfie Mawson's free-kick clipped the top of the crossbar.

Home keeper Lee Butcher pulled off a fine save to keep out a Davis header but he was unable to stop a strike from the same player which made it 1-0.

James Mulley hit the post for Town before Davis converted his second from the penalty spot.

Braintree are now three points off the play-off places with three games in hand over Nuneaton.
