Newport County director of football Tim Harris has been offered the manager job at former club Gloucester City.

Harris, a former Gloucester goalkeeper, spent two years in charge of the Tigers between 2006 and 2008.

He was Newport County manager for five years and later became the club's director of football.

Harris, who also managed Merthyr and Forest Green, is expected to make a decision one way or another in the next 24 hours.

Gloucester sacked Dave Mehew, Harris's former assistant, following Saturday's 1-1 draw with North Ferriby.

The Tigers are third from bottom of the Conference North table and six points off safety.
