Peterborough United 1-2 Bristol City

Ten-man Bristol City boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation from League One by battling to victory over play-off-chasing Peterborough.

Sam Baldock was City's match-winner, tucking in from close range before tapping home a Wade Elliot cut back.

Adam El-Abd was then sent off after a clash with Posh's Britt Assombalonga.

Michael Bostwick glanced in Grant McCann's corner to get the hosts back in it before half-time but City held on after the break for a precious win.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:

"I'm not having any more of it. You can only do so much.

"I'm not defending them anymore and why should I. It was a completely unprofessional start to a game.

"It's alright to have character when you're 5-0 up against Tranmere, but not when you're 2-0 down with 15 minutes gone and you're just booting the ball everywhere. They know it, I'm not excusing them."

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill told BBC Radio Bristol:

"It ended up being hard work for a game which we started really well.

"We got ourselves 2-0 up, and deservedly so. I just feel that had we had been able to keep 11 men on the pitch, then we would have gone on to score more goals.

"I'm disappointed with the sending off. I didn't see it, and that's not a blag, I didn't see it.

"He's told me he's run by him (Assombalonga) and gone to block him off. That happens on the pitch all the time."
