Irish Cup quarter-finals: Glentoran 1-2 Glenavon

Two goals in the dying minutes of the game earned Glenavon a dramatic last-gasp Irish Cup quarter-final win over Glentoran at the Oval on Monday night.

Jay Magee scored a penalty on the stroke of half-time to put the holders ahead but Kris Lindsay headed home a Gary Hamilton corner after 88 minutes.

Rhys Marshall provided the cross for Guy Bates to take a touch and roll the ball into the corner two minutes later.

The Lurgan Blues will face Crusaders in the semi-finals on Saturday 5 April.

The first half yielded few clear-cut chances but Elliott Morris saved well from an Andy McGrory header, before Magee blasted home from the spot three minutes into added time.

The big centre-half stepped up to score after referee Raymond Crangle adjudged that goalkeeper James McGrath had brought down Jordan Stewart in the area.

Glenavon dominated much of the second period and created the better scoring opportunities as they pressed for an equaliser.

A combination of Morris and the post somehow kept out a Hamilton volley from a long throw and the Glens stopper produced further fine saves to deny McGrory and Hamilton efforts.

Lindsay's goal brought the teams level and then Bates fired in at the back post for the winner.
