Neil Austin: Hartlepool defender to miss the remainder of the season

Hartlepool defender Neil Austin will miss the rest of the season as he needs surgery to repair an injured toe.

The 30-year-old was initially injured in February's 0-0 draw with Scunthorpe.

Formerly with Barnsley and Darlingtion, Austin has made 198 appearances for the Pools, who are 10th in League two, five points off the play-off places.

Manager Colin Cooper told the club website: "It's a blow but Neil is a top pro so I'm sure he'll want to get back to full fitness as soon as possible."
