Morecambe 1-1 Northampton Town

Northampton picked up an important point in their fight for League Two survival as they battled to a draw with Morecambe at the Globe Arena.

The visitors were gifted the lead when Andy Wright sliced Emile Sinclair's cross into his own net.

The home side hit back in the second half and Matt Duke tipped away a dangerous Kevin Ellison free-kick.

Morecambe's pressure paid off when Padraig Amond finished a neat passing move to earn a point for the Shrimps.

The result means Northampton are three points from safety in 23rd place, whilst Morecambe slip to 14th.

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"It would have been very cruel if we had lost the game. We knew we were playing a tough side who have picked up of late.

"We've been good in the second half this season and we scored a fantastic goal to get ourselves level."
