Braintree Town 1-0 Aldershot Town

Dan Holman's early goal secured a comfortable win for Braintree and left struggling Aldershot in the Conference Premier relegation zone.

Holman struck his sixth goal in eight games when he poked home a long ball past goalkeeper Glenn Morris.

Braintree could have doubled their lead after the interval but Dan Sparkes' free-kick came back off the crossbar.

Craig Stanley and Brett Williams went closest for the Shots but they could not find an equaliser.

Post-match: Aldershot manager Scott

Aldershot Town boss Andy Scott told BBC Surrey:

"It's frustrating for everybody and the fans are frustrated because it's another ridiculous goal we have conceded, where it's been a long punt forward with indecision costing us.

"We didn't create as much as we liked but I felt we were in control of the game. In the second half we didn't have the ruthlessness in the box that makes the difference and we've conceded a poor goal.

"We can't dwell on this result too much and we've got two games at home.

"They dominated the game - the way they went about the tempo - and it was difficult."
