Glenavon secure a spot in the top six with a 3-1 victory over ten-man Coleraine

Two second-half goals from Ciaran Martyn helped Glenavon see off 10-man Coleraine and secure a top six place ahead of the league split.

Gary Browne was sent-off on 15 minutes for kicking out at William Murphy.

David Rainey rifled home a 20-yard left-foot piledriver from the edge of the box just before half-time.

Adam Mullan slotted in the equaliser on 57, but Martyn fired a left-foot shot into the bottom corner on 59 and then netted with a scissors-kick after 78.

Browne's early dismissal left the Bannsiders facing an uphill struggle and Rainey's goal put the Lurgan Blues firmly in the driving seat.

Coleraine's best chance of the opening period fell to David McDaid, but he just failed to get on the end of a Paul Owens delivery.

Young right-back Mullan gave Oran Kearney's side some hope when he beat James McGrath after meeting Joe McNeill's flick.

Mark Patton squared the ball across the area for Martyn to score and then Andy McGrory provided the cross for the ex-Derry City and Glentoran player to add his second.
