'Phenomenal effort' pleases Adams

Norwich manager Neil Adams believes his side can avoid relegation if they replicate their second-half showing from Sunday's 3-2 defeat by Liverpool.

The Canaries are two points above the relegation zone and visit Manchester United and Chelsea, before hosting Arsenal, in their remaining games.

"The second-half performance is what we need in those three games," said Adams.

"If we can do that, we're still very confident we can get enough points to stay in the division."

Adams took over from the sacked Chris Hughton in early April but has lost his two games in charge, with defeat against fellow strugglers Fulham and league leaders Liverpool.

They quickly fell 2-0 down to Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez goals against the Reds before Gary Hooper pulled on back.

Sterling scored again for Liverpool before Robert Snodgrass headed in for the Canaries.

"No doubt people will ask if they have got that in the last three games, but the two performances since I have been in charge have been first class," said Adams.

"I thought we deserved something from the game, particularly with the second-half performance.

"The first-half performance wasn't good enough. We were playing against a top team and you can't give these types of team an inch or they will punish you.

"They are at the top of the table and that's why. They've got top-class players in their side and we didn't get close enough in the tackles."
