Man Utd players were a bit flat - Giggs

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs berated his team's poor home form and says he is feeling "flat" after Sunderland won at Old Trafford.

Sebastian Larsson's goal sentenced United to a seventh Old Trafford league defeat, their worst home form since 1973-74, when they were relegated.

"I feel flat, the players were flat and I don't know why," said Giggs, after his second game in charge since David Moyes was sacked ended in defeat.

"Our home form's not been good enough."

With two games remaining, United can finish no higher than sixth in the Premier League after Sunderland's first league win at Old Trafford since 1968.

They entertain Hull on Tuesday before rounding off a trophy-less season at Southampton on 11 May.

Manchester United have lost three of the last five Premier League games at Old Trafford.

"I still believe there is quality," Giggs told BBC Sport after United's second defeat in three games. "But we didn't show it against Sunderland and we haven't shown it consistently over the season.

"Until we do that we will carry on having results like this. It clearly is frustrating."

Louis van Gaal has been linked with the United vacancy, with reports suggesting the club will confirm the Netherlands manager's appointment next week., external

"I can't tell you anything about the next manager, I am just concentrating on the next game," said Giggs when asked about the speculation surrounding the next manager.

Giggs is refusing to rule out Wayne Rooney facing Hull next week.

The 28-year-old England international missed the Sunderland defeat with a minor groin problem.

"We will keep monitoring him and see how he is for Tuesday," added Giggs.

Asked if some players in the United team are playing for their futures, Giggs said: "I don't think as a player you think like that.

"You just go out on the pitch and each day try and do your best in training. When games come along you try and do your best as well.

"You don't think about your future, you just want to do your best and if you don't produce that quality, you don't play, it is as simple as that."
