Midfielder John-Joe O'Toole will leave Bristol Rovers after activating a release clause in his contract.

The 25-year-old joined on a three-year deal last summer, following a successful loan spell from Colchester.

He finished the 2013-14 campaign as Pirates' top scorer with 15 goals, but it was not enough to keep them from relegation to the Conference Premier.

A Bristol Rovers statement read:, external "Everyone at the club would like to wish John-Joe well in the future."
