Marc Albrighton: Leicester City man lured by Foxes ambition

Albrighton believes everything is in place for Leicester to become a top Premier League side

New Leicester City midfielder Marc Albrighton says he was lured by the club's ambitions and desire to become established in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old joined the Championship champions in May after 16 years with Aston Villa.

"I'd seen the vision the club had and it sold it for me," said Albrighton.

"It's a fresh start for me. Having been at Villa for 16 years, I needed a new challenge and when I heard Leicester wanted me, it was a no-brainer."

Albrighton, who cut short his summer holiday to complete the medical and sign for City, said he had decided to join the Foxes before he met manager Nigel Pearson.

"A few people told me that he was top class so I was looking forward to meeting him," Albrighton added. "But I'd already made my decision that I wanted to join.

"I've never played at the King Power stadium but it looks terrific, and they've spent lots of money on the new training facility.

"With the fans, the city, and the manager behind us, everything is in place for the club to drive forward to become a top Premier League side, and I'm looking forward to being a part of it."

The former England Under-21 international, who joined Aston Villa at the age of eight, made his senior debut in 2008 and went on to make 101 appearances for the club.

And Albrighton says he hopes his Premier League experience will be useful in helping out his new colleagues when the season starts in August.

"It's something the manager mentioned to me that will be handy in the dressing room," he added.

"If my opinion is needed, I'll put it across to help the lads out.

"But being a footballer, you naturally make changes to your game.

"I'm sure after four or five matches the guys who haven't played in the Premier League will feel like they've played there for their entire career."
