Relegated Tranmere Rovers have signed defender Michael Ihiekwe on a two-year contract following the 21-year-old's departure from Wolves.

Ihiekwe did not make a first-team appearance for the Molineux club.

But he does have experience of League Two, playing 13 times during a loan spell with Cheltenham Town last season.

"He's very quick, he reads the game well and is a player with lots of potential," Rovers manager Rob Edwards told the club website., external

"He's ambitious to play at a higher level and hopefully he will achieve that aim with us."

Ihiekwe added: "I'm very happy to be here. The manager has told me about his plans and they made me excited to join. I'm looking forward to working with him."
