Wales Women: Jess Fishlock confident ahead of Belarus game

Jess Fishlock said the team knows how tough the Belarus game will be.

Wales Women's captain Jess Fishlock said the team is quietly confident ahead of Thursday's World Cup qualifying match against Belarus.

Wales are unbeaten in five matches and sit second in Group Six behind England.

They have three games left, against Belarus, England and Ukraine, and captain Fishlock says they need to keep their recent good form going.

"We're quietly confident right now but we're hugely aware how difficult the game is going to be," she said.

In their last run-out, Wales beat Turkey 1-0 in Haverfordwest but their next three fixtures see two away trips to Belarus and Ukraine either side of a home match against runaway group leaders England.

"We're in a good position and we're on a good run so we've just got to keep believing in what we can achieve and keep pushing for that.

"We know it's going to be tough, every game is at international level so we've just got to really focus on ourselves and hopefully come away with the points that will put us in a really really good position for the playoffs.

"If we get to the play-offs it will be a huge achievement for us and for Wales as a country. We've still got three games left and they are going to be extremely difficult."
