York City have signed midfielder Luke Summerfield on a two-year contract after he left fellow League Two club Shrewsbury Town on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old started his career at Plymouth Argyle, before joining Cheltenham Town.

He then played 64 league games in two years for Shrewsbury but was released in May after they suffered relegation and Micky Mellon arrived as manager.

Summerfield becomes the sixth addition at Bootham Crescent so far this summer.
