Brighton: Ankergren, Bruno and Calderon sign new contracts

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Casper Ankergren and defenders Bruno and Inigo Calderon have signed new deals with the Championship club.

The trio have all agreed one-year contracts at the Amex Stadium.

"Casper, Bruno and Inigo have been important members of the squad in recent years," Albion manager Sami Hyypia told the club website., external

"They're experienced heads with a lot of games between them and they give us continuity within the squad."

Ankergren, 34, joined Brighton in August 2010, external and was an integral part of the side which won the League One title in 2010-11.

As understudy to Tomasz Kuszczak in the past two campaigns, the Dane was restricted to two appearances for the Seagulls last season.

Right-back Bruno, 33, moved to the Amex Stadium from Valencia in the summer of 2012 and featured 33 times in 2013-14.

Right-back Calderon, 31, was the first permanent signing made by former Seagulls boss Gus Poyet.

"I had a limited knowledge of all three, but head of football operations David Burke and first-team coach Nathan Jones have given me some sound input on the entire squad - including the three of them," Hyypia added.

"Having had a chance to review a number of DVDs from last season, I can see their qualities and I am sure they'll continue to be key for us in the season ahead."
