Macclesfield Town: Efe Sodje to continue as assistant manager
- Published
Efe Sodje is to stay on as assistant to Macclesfield manager John Askey, a week after the club announced he was leaving because of budget constraints.
The 41-year-old former Nigeria international defender and former Macclesfield striker Askey took charge of the Silkmen in the summer of 2013.
Together, they guided the team to 15th in the Conference Premier in 2013-14.
Meanwhile, an eight-strong group of local businessmen and supporters are to oversee the running of the club.
Amar Alkadhi confirmed last week that he was to maintain his position as majority shareholder and had invested funds to pay off the club's debts.
The newly-assembled group, led by Mark Blower, will run the club on behalf of the owners.
A number of first-team players, including club captain Paul Turnbull and veteran centre-back George Pilkington, have agreed new deals for next season.
