Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson hails impact of boss Deila

Liam Henderson believes he will become a better player working under manager Ronny Deila

Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson has revealed he is relishing working under manager Ronny Deila.

The 18-year-old played the second half of Deila's first match in charge, a 3-1 friendly win over FK Krasnodar.

And Henderson believes the club's youngsters will flourish under the Norwegian's guidance.

"I've been taking everything he tells me on board and I'm sure I will improve if I keep listening to him," the teenager told Celtic's website.

"He's been speaking to me about stuff I can do better and that's been really good for my point of view, and he's always involved on the training ground which is really good for all the boys."

Goals from Anthony Stokes, Stefan Johansen and Callum McGregor against the Russians ensured Deila's reign started with a victory, as Celtic build towards their Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik.

The man who took over from Neil Lennon this summer arrived in Scotland having built a reputation for playing attacking football at Stromsgodset.

And Henderson, who burst on to the scene with some impressive displays near the end of last season, says Deila's methods have already made a big impression.

"The training has been fantastic," he added. "He likes the midfielders to get on the ball, and hopefully that's a good thing for me.

"I like to get on the ball and obviously the high-tempo pressing means you can win the ball back and get more touches of the ball. It's been really good so far."
