Swindon Town are in negotiations to bring back Southampton defender Jack Stephens on loan, chairman Lee Power has confirmed.

The 20-year-old spent two months on loan at the County Ground last season, making 10 appearances for the League One club.

"We have had conversations with Southampton," Power revealed to BBC Wiltshire during a fans' phone-in.

"They are aware we like the lad and I think he really enjoyed his time here."

Stephens has made one substitute appearance for Saints since they bought him for £150,000 from Plymouth in 2011.

The former England Under-19 international will now working under incoming manager Ronald Koeman, who has replaced Mauricio Pochettino at St Mary's.

And Power added: "They've got a new manager and he's going to want to have a first look and see if he wants to be part of the squad.

"But that's the type of player we'd like to have back."
