Europa League: Feeney's relief as Linfield go through

Linfield manager Warren Feeney admitted it was a huge relief to qualify for the second qualifying round of the Europa League by seeing off B36 Torshavn.

The Irish Premiership club drew 1-1 with the Faroe Islands side on Tuesday to go through 3-2 on aggregate.

The Blues will now play Stockholm side AIK Solna, with the first leg at Mourneview Park on Thursday, 17 July.

"It was a pressure game for us because people were thinking we were already through," said Feeney.

"I had people texting me, saying they had already booked their flights to Sweden.

"But I never thought that way because we were up against a side halfway through their season and on top of the league.

"We are just two weeks in and you could see our players getting cramp, so it shows the character and desire we had in the changing room to get through this.

"Torshavn's two goals over the two legs came from set pieces. They never cut through us or got round the back of us.

"I am just delighted we have the chance now to go to a top team in Sweden, they are a quality European side."
