Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance says his side must change if they are to win promotion this season.

The Green Lions lost in the Isthmian League Division One play-offs last season, the first time they have not won promotion in their short existence.

"If we do the same things this year, with the same squad and put the same effort in we'll finish in the same position," Vance told BBC Guernsey.

"That's not promotion and that's not what I want," he said.

"We've got to look to try and do things differently, look for that edge and try and push things further."

Guernsey were formed in 2011 and won two successive promotions to move out of the Combined Counties League and reach level eight of the English football pyramid.

"This is the first time since Guernsey FC's existence that we've been in the same league, so potentially we're in our comfort zone," added Vance.

"We know the places we're going to and some people might not fancy that because they remember it wasn't a particularly great grip and it was a long journey.

"We've got to look to try and do things differently, look for that edge and try and push things further."
