Cardiff City: 'I've grown up' since Man Utd - Federico Macheda

Former Manchester United striker Federico Macheda says he is determined to take his chance at Cardiff City.
Despite early success, external at Old Trafford, Macheda struggled to hold down a regular first-team place and the 23-year-old signed for the Bluebirds after being released by United.
The Italian scored twice on his debut in the 3-2 League Cup win at Port Vale.
"I've grown up as a man and as a player and I hope I can keep going like this," said Macheda.
Macheda has spent time on loan in Germany with Stuttgart and in his native Italy with Sampdoria, as well as having spells with Queens Park Rangers and Doncaster Rovers.
He spent last season on loan at Championship side Birmingham, scoring 10 goals in 18 appearances.
Macheda, who also hit the crossbar with a shot during Tuesday night's match at Vale Park, says he has learned from his experiences.
"Now I understand that I have to concentrate more on my game and work hard, because maybe I lost a few chances in the past," said Macheda.
Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coached the Italian in the reserve side at United before he broke into the Reds first team as a 17-year-old.
Macheda says he is grateful for the opportunity Solskjaer has given him.
"It's a great chance," said Macheda.
"I came here to do well because I know Ole and all the staff, that's why I came here.
"So he's given me a big chance and I'm confident I'm going to take it."
Solskjaer said the forward "needs games" following his return from a back injury, which kept him out of action for four weeks.
Cardiff, who will play AFC Bournemouth at home in the third round following their victory away to Vale, face Fulham on Saturday 30 August in the Championship.
Macheda said he will be ready, if selected to play at Craven Cottage.
"Of course everyone hopes to play but whatever the manager decides," he said.
"If he picks me or puts me on the bench I'll try to be ready when he calls me."
