Roma have completed the signing of Greece defender Kostas Manolas from Olympiakos for £10.3m.

The 23-year-old centre-back has agreed a five-year contract.

Manolas has been brought in by Roma boss Rudi Garcia as a replacement for Morocco international Mehdi Benatia, who has joined Bayern Munich.

He made 25 league appearances for Olympiakos last season and played in all four of Greece's matches at the recent World Cup in Brazil.

The defender was linked with a number of European clubs, including Arsenal, following a solid 2013-14 campaign with Olympiakos and came close to joining Everton in 2012.
