League One side Rochdale have signed Brighton striker Shamir Fenelon on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has made three appearances for the Seagulls this term, making his debut for the club on the opening day of the campaign.

But he has been allowed to leave the Championship side after they signed Sam Baldock from Bristol City on Wednesday.

Brighton boss Sami Hyypia:

"The experience of playing regular football in League One will help Shamir to continue his progress."

Rochdale have taken four points from their first four league matches and host Bradford at Spotland on Saturday.

"He's got some good experience after being out on loan in non-league [with Tonbridge Angels] and at Torquay," Rochdale assistant manager Chris Beech told the club website., external

"He also had a great pre-season, earning his right to start in the Championship.

"They've strengthened their squad which has allowed him to come here on loan and we're thankful to Brighton for that."

Brighton boss Sami Hyypia added: "Shamir did very well in pre-season and that has been of great benefit to his development.

"Now it is important he continues that, and the experience of playing regular football in League One will help him to continue that progress."
