Transfer deadline day: Brentford sign Betinho from Sporting Lisbon

Portugal Under-21 international forward Betinho has signed for Championship club Brentford on a season-long loan deal from Sporting Lisbon.

Betinho, 21, came through the Sporting youth team and has been a prolific goalscorer at youth level for Portugal.

Brentford manager Mark Warburton told the club website: "He is quick, strong and technically gifted.

"He shone in very good team that included Joao Teixeira, who is known to Brentford fans."

Betinho has played for Portugal at every youth level from under-15 to under-21.

He has scored 26 goals for his country in 57 games in a combination of all youth-team levels, including two in four matches for the under-21s.

"We are looking forward to him making a positive contribution in the season ahead," added Warburton.
