Mark Yates insists Cheltenham Town can still improve

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates has insisted there is still more to come from his side, following their fifth win in seven games.

The Robins beat Oxford 2-0 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round on Tuesday and are currently unbeaten in League Two.

Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "We need to keep doing what we're doing and striving to improve.

"There's still plenty to come in terms of the football we're trying to play."

Yates made six changes to Tuesday's starting line-up from the team that beat Hartlepool 1-0 on Saturday.

And their new-look front-line of on-loan pair John Marquis and Koby Arthur sent them through to the second round, with Millwall's Marquis scoring just before half-time and Birmingham's Arthur adding a second on 78 minutes.

"We thoroughly deserved to win and we have another clean sheet," added Yates.

"More than anything else it keeps the good habits ticking over. We talk about habits and getting on that winning run to build up momentum.

"There's stuff that wasn't particularly brilliant but the endeavour and the work rate was there in abundance. The supporters and the staff will take that."
