Bury replaced Burton at the top of League Two after a Daniel Nardiello double sealed a convincing win.

Half-time substitute Nardiello fired Bury into the lead from eight yards before Ryan Lowe poked in the second.

An over-hit back-pass from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff wrongfooted keeper Jon McLaughlin and Nardiello pounced to put the Shakers three up.

Jacob Blyth nodded in Stuart Beavon's cross late on, but it proved nothing more than a consolation.

Bury, who started the day in second place, leapfrogged Burton at the top of League Two, with The Brewers slipping to second after suffering consecutive defeats.

Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We've been putting an infrastructure in place, we've been putting something in to get performances like that and find that consistency.

"People talk about winning and winning and winning, but if you look at the performance, and as a coach or manager, you concentrate on the performance, the wins come out of that.

"They're a fantastic group. The football display today was breathtaking, completely destructive at times."

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:

"We were going to miss some of the players we've got unavailable today and I'm not going to make any bones about that, but I'm not also going to excuses for it.

"We've come with a gameplan that I felt in the first half went quite well. We got into some really good positions and limited them to relatively few chances. It felt as though in the last few minutes of the first half we just allowed them to get in and around the box probably too easily.

"Two very, very poor goals to concede at any level just made the game go away from us at that point. Then for the last 20-25 minutes we actually rallied quite well to chase the game ok and scored a good goal through Blyth, but it was too little, too late."
