Red Bull Salzburg have scored 31 goals in their eight league games this season

Celtic's Europa League opponents Red Bull Salzburg have slipped to second in the Austrian Bundesliga after a 1-0 defeat at the new leaders Wolfsberger.

Salzburg's opponents played much of Sunday's match with 10 men.

It is the first time the top seeds in Celtic's group have failed to score in a league game this season.

With their Champions League play-off defeat to Malmo and their previous league loss to Sturm Graz, it is three defeats in a row for the Austrians.

However, the reigning Bundesliga champions have won six of their eight league games and are only three points behind Wolfsberger.

Celtic, meanwhile, prepared for Thursday's opening match in Austria with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen.
