Wayne Carlisle: Truro City not good enough says assistant boss

Carlisle's playing career included spells at Crystal Palace, Exeter and Torquay

Truro City assistant manager Wayne Carlisle admitted his side were second best as they bowed out of the FA Cup at the first qualifying round stage.

Truro lost 2-0 to Larkhall Athletic, who play in the league below their Southern League Premier Division hosts.

"The truth is we weren't good enough today and we wanted to win that game," Carlisle told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"It's disappointing because our momentum's been broken now and it's taken time to build it."

Truro had won their previous two league games leading up to the FA Cup tie.

"We had momentum from our league form and we've got players that want to win every game because it's a good habit, whether it's the FA Cup or not," Carlisle continued.

"But on the whole we weren't good enough or clinical enough when we got our chances.

"I don't think we underestimated what they were capable of, I think possibly we just didn't implement our plan well enough.

"That's been the story of our season, we get a couple of chances and we don't take them and we can say it wasn't our day or it's bad luck, but the truth is you make your own luck."
