Truro City manager Steve Tully signs two-year contract

Tully spent six-and-a-half years at Exeter City before initially joining Truro as a player last year

Truro City manager Steve Tully has signed a new two-year contract at the Southern Premier League club.

The former Exeter City and Torquay defender after Steve Massey was sacked.

Tully's assistant Wayne Carlisle has also agreed a two-year deal.

"I'd liked to have signed a long-term contract from the start. When we were negotiating I think myself and the chairman's goals were similar," Tully told BBC Sport.

"We want continuity at the club and to see the club moving forward in the right direction and two years fits.

"The players know what's happening now, they've got the continuity of what we're doing and we're going to give it a real good go and see what happens."

Tully has paid tribute to chairman Peter Masters, who has invested in the club after his last-minute takeover saved Truro City from extinction in December 2012.

"I want to thank the chairman for what he's done for the club," said Tully.

"It's a credit to him that he's spent £77,000 in the last two month doing up the ground. It's an incredible amount of money and he's got passion and drive and we want to fulfil that on the football field for him.

"There's no pressure from the chairman, we want to try to compete on every level in every competition and see how far that takes us.

"We want to do well and we want to get promotion, but things don't always happen overnight. As long as we're moving in the right direction, we'll see where that takes us.

"If we're doing that at Christmas time we'll re-assess and take it from there but I hope we'll be up there pushing."
