Six-time German champions Hamburg have sacked coach Mirko Slomka after a poor start to the Bundesliga campaign.

The former European champions have one point from three games after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

Slomka, 47, only took charge in February but Hamburg have acted ahead of Saturday's home match with reigning champions Bayern Munich.

The northern German club are bottom of the table and lost 2-0 at Slomka's former club Hannover on Sunday.
