Shinji Kagawa failed to score during the 2013/14 season at Manchester United

Former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa scored on his Borussia Dortmund return as the Germans warmed up for Tuesday's Champions League visit of Arsenal with a win over Freiburg.

Kagawa, in his second spell at Dortmund, doubled the hosts' lead after Adrian Ramos's opener.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made sure of the win with an individual effort, before Oliver Sorg's consolation.

Dortmund have won two of their three Bundesliga matches this season.

Kagawa, 25, has signed a four-year deal with the German club, for whom he played from 2010 to 2012, prior to his move to Old Trafford for £12m.

The Japan international scored six goals in 57 appearances for United during a two-year spell in which he found it difficult to secure a regular starting spot in the first XI.
