Crusaders players celebrate with goal scorer Jordan Owens

Crusaders moved up to fourth place in the Premiership table thanks to a convincing win at Warrenpoint.

Jordan Owens smashed home his sixth league goal of the season to give the Crues a 15th-minute lead.

Former Linfield striker Timmy Adamson drilled in a right-foot finish for the second goal on 33 minutes.

Diarmuid O'Carroll wrapped up the victory 11 minutes from time to leave Warrenpoint still two points adrift at the foot of the table.

Crusaders, who are two points off the top of the league standings, have been beaten just once this season.

Their manager Stephen Baxter's decision to start with three strikers certainly paid off as all three scored, and it was the Belfast side's first clean sheet in 15 away league trips.

The visitors dominated the first half, taking the lead when front man Owens smashed in after Diarmuid O'Carroll's flicked header had been well saved by home keeper Martin Marron.

Promising teenager Gavin White then had a superb dipping shot tipped over the bar by Marron.

But the Crues doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when former Cliftonville striker O'Carroll held the ball up and fed Adamson who drove in from 20 yards.

O'Carroll completed the scoring with a powerful finish from an Owens cross.
