Midfielder Raffaele De Vita has signed a three-month contract with Cheltenham.
The 27-year-old former Swindon winger has been without a club since his release from Bradford over the summer.
De Vita flew back from his native Italy this week to complete his move to Whaddon Road but is not expected to be involved with the squad straight away.
"He's a fit lad but, having missed the start of the season, we need time to get him up to speed," Robins manager Mark Yates told the club website., external
"Raffa will offer us something different. He will add versatility because he can play in a few positions, works hard and can nick a goal. He's a very decent player who I've liked for a time."
De Vita started his career at Blackburn Rovers before moving to Livingston, where he scored 22 goals in 67 games.
He was signed at Swindon by former manager Paolo Di Canio and was part of the League Two title-winning squad in 2011-12.
De Vita went on to join Bradford last summer and made nine starts and 14 substitute appearances before being let go.
