Thomas Muller's penalty secured Bayern Munich victory over CSKA Moscow at an empty Arena Khimki stadium in the Champions League.
Muller scored from the spot in the first half after Mario Gotze had been fouled by Mario Fernandes.
Roman Eremenko went closest to equalising for CSKA, seeing a low shot hit the bottom of the post.
The game was played behind closed doors as CSKA's Uefa punishment after racist chanting by their fans last season.
Bayern are top of Group E with six points from two games after beating Manchester City 1-0 in their group opener earlier this month.
