Preston: Joe Garner unmoved by Steven Pressley comments

Garner's goal against Coventry took him to seven goals already this season

Preston striker Joe Garner says he was unmoved by comments made by Coventry manager Steven Pressley.

Speaking before Saturday's game between the two sides, Pressley said that Garner likes to "throw himself on the ground" and he goes down "very easily".

Garner scored a penalty as North End won 2-0 at the Sky Blues.

"Our gaffer after the game had a little laugh, and I didn't really know what he (Pressley) was on about so I can't really say much about it," Garner said.

"I don't mind it. It's their manager, whatever he wants to do.

"Everyone has their own opinions and I'll just go out there and work hard and try and get three points for my team."

Garner has led the line for Simon Grayson's side and scored seven times in 10 appearances this term.

"Whatever has been in the press we can't affect that, and Joe just goes about what he's doing," Grayson told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Joe's only motivation is to score goals for Preston North End - he takes great satisfaction scoring against anybody.

"He's our talisman, isn't he? I didn't see his celebration so he's done something quite ironic I suppose."

Asked if that was their best performance so far this season, Grayson added: "Over the course of a full game, yes.

"I think we've had some exceptional moments in games for 25 or 30 minutes but from start to finish I think there was only one team that deserved to win."

Preston are now unbeaten in three games following the loss at Walsall and sit in the final League One play-off place.
