Irish Premiership: Glenavon 1-2 Glentoran

Glentoran got their first away league win of the season with David Scullion bagging their winner at Glenavon.

It was Scullion's ball from the left which led to Jordan Stewart putting Glentoran into a 13th-minute lead with a near post finish.

Glenavon equalised in the 66th minute when Kyle Neill's corner came off the post and Conor Dillon forced the ball in during a frantic goalmouth scramble.

Scullion pounced for Glentoran's winner 11 minutes from time.

Stewart had been in on goal and when he was tackled by a defender the ball fell for Scullion to score into an empty net with keeper James McGrath out of position.

Glentoran got a boost before the game when midfielder Marcus Kane passed a fitness test.

It meant the only change in the Glens line-up saw Fra McCaffrey come back into the starting line-up, replacing the injured David Howland.

McGrath was back in goals for Glenavon as former Linfield keeper Alan Blayney was absent because of illness.

Former Ballinamallard man McGrath was picking the ball out of his net when Stewart's near post header put the visitors into the lead.

Curtis Allen had held the ball up before feeding the overlapping Scullion whose ball from the left was headed in by the highly-rated 19-year-old Stewart.

It took a fine save by keeper Elliott Morris in the 33rd minute to keep the Glens in front.

A lovely ball by Kevin Braniff picked out the run of Dillon and his header was superbly turned over the bar by Morris.

The Glens keeper felt he had been fouled when Dillon scrambled in Glenavon's equaliser in the second half.

In the end, it didn't really matter as Scullion popped up to score the winner for Glentoran who are unbeaten in their last six matches in the league.
