Roma moved to within one point of Serie A leaders Juventus after a 3-0 home victory against Chievo.
Mattia Destro headed in Miralem Pjanic's fourth-minute corner before Adem Ljajic doubled the hosts' lead following a pass from Francesco Totti.
Roma, whose side included ex-England left-back Ashley Cole, moved further ahead when Totti converted a penalty after Daniele De Rossi had been fouled.
The Italian team host Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Roma are second in Group E after a 5-1 win against CSKA Moscow and a 1-1 draw at Manchester City and will go into the game against the German champions in confident mood after their sixth win in seven domestic league games.
Juventus dropped their first points of the season when they drew 1-1 at bottom side Sassuolo after six successive victories at the beginning of the campaign.
