Irish Premiership: Warrenpoint Town 2-5 Glentoran

Curtis Allen's hat-trick helped Glentoran see off nine-man Warrenpoint in an incident-filled Premiership encounter at Milltown.

Goals from Allen and Marcus Kane were twice cancelled out by efforts from the Hughes brothers Daniel and Mark in a lively opening 23 minutes.

But Allen restored Glentoran's lead on 31 before Daniel Hughes was dismissed on 38 after a second yellow card.

After Ciaran Gargan's dismissal, Kym Nelson and Allen added late goals.

Gargan received his marching orders from Raymond Hetherington after an apparent head-butt on Niall Henderson.

Earlier, Allen put the Glens ahead on three minutes after his initial effort had been saved by Town keeper Martin Marron.

However, Warrenpoint were on terms within four minutes as Daniel Hughes pounced on a weak backpass from Johnny Addis.

As the goals continued to flow, Kane restored Glentoran's lead on 16 minutes after a Henderson corner but Warrenpoint levelled again seven minutes later as Mark Hughes superbly volleyed into the net.

Allen fired in his second goal of the half on 31 after Marron had been unable to hold a Stephen McAlorum shot and Warrenpoint suffered a massive blow seven minutes later when Daniel Hughes was dismissed after his shove on Henderson resulted in his second yellow card.

With the player advantage, Glentoran dominated after half-time with Marron making two fine saves to deny Allen.

But any slim hope of a Warrenpoint revival was ended by Gargan's silly dismissal on 66 and Nelson's goal on 79 was followed by Allen completing his hat-trick on 84 after the ball had come back off the woodwork.

The win moves Glentoran into sixth position in the table while Warrenpoint remain bottom - a point behind 11th-placed Dungannon Swifts.
