Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat says he and his team-mates "do not want" another manager at the club.

Boss Alan Pardew had been the subject of fans' protests following a poor start to the campaign, which saw the Magpies fail to win any of their first six Premier League matches.

But after victories over Leicester and Spurs, Janmaat believes the pressure on Pardew is beginning to lift.

The 25-year-old said: "The pressure has eased. We want him as the manager."

Netherlands international Janmaat, one of several new players who arrived at St James' Park over the summer, added: "The manager was under a lot of pressure so it's nice that we have given him some points.

"I now expect the pressure to ease on him. We do not want another manager."

Newcastle travel to Manchester City on Wednesday in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.
