- Published
Veteran Chester striker Chris Iwelumo has announced his retirement from professional football.
The former Scotland forward scored once in 10 games after signing a one-year deal with the Conference side in June.
Iwelumo, 36, was capped four times by his country, scoring more than 100 goals in over 500 senior appearances.
Iwelumo began his career at St Mirren, and went onto feature for 19 different clubs including Stoke City, Wolves, Colchester, Burnley and Watford.
"Chris has had a glittering career in football for over 20 years," chairman Grenville Millington told the club website.
"I'm sure that he retires with a heavy heart but I've no doubt that he will continue his relationship with professional football for many years to come."
