Hartlepool boss Paul Murray 'barely ate or slept' since taking job

Hartlepool United boss Paul Murray has hardly stopped since his appointment last week, and will soon delegate more to his assistant Willie Donachie.

The 38-year-old's first game in charge was a defeat by Cambridge United, which saw Pools go bottom of League Two.

"It's been difficult. I'm not sleeping, or eating much either, but when you first come in you want to do a lot and get a lot across," he told BBC Tees.

"I'm very hands on at the moment, but will pass more on to Willie soon."

Murray left a coaching role at Oldham Athletic to become Colin Cooper's permanent replacement at Victoria Park.

He was denied a point on his managerial debut by an 87th minute goal.

"We showed some real naivety to concede that late from a long-throw - I think we thought we already had a point," added Murray.

"It's my job to improve the players here, but I look at the squad and there's no mid-range aged players who know the game.

"We need that. There's a huge gap in the group so I'll definitely be making additions."
