Irish Premiership: Dungannon 1-3 Cliftonville

Cliftonville are two points clear at the top of the Irish Premiership after their victory at Stangmore Park.

The champions took the lead through Joe Gormley in the fifth minute but Matt Hazley curled in the equaliser.

Cliftonville regained the lead when Gormley netted a penalty after Martin Donnelly had been fouled.

Tomas Cosgrove broke in to the box to net a superb third for Cliftonville who had Ryan Catney sent-off for picking up two yellow cards.

The north Belfast pacesetters have now won five league games in a row and look to be the team to beat as they go for a hat-trick of Premiership titles.

Catney's second offence was a late challenge but Reds manager Tommy Breslin felt his midfielder was unlucky to be dismissed.

"It is frustrating because I think Ryan had two tackles in the whole game and both were yellow cards," said Breslin.

"He is a committed footballer but it by no means a dirty player.

"There were other fouls which went unpunished and it looks as if Ryan's reputation maybe went before him."

However, by that stage, the visitors had the points in the bag.

Cosgrove created the opening from which top striker Gormley bagged the early opener.

A mix-up between keeper Conor Devlin and Cliftonville defender gave Hazley the chance he took with a shot which went in off a post.

Gormley restored Cliftonville's lead from the spot after Cameron Grieve's foul on Donnelly and in the 64th minute Cosgrove worked his way into the box to score the goal of the game.
