Basingstoke Town 1-1 AFC Telford United

Chris Flood earned Conference South leaders Basingstoke Town an FA Cup first-round replay against Conference bottom side AFC Telford United.

Town started well but Rod McDonald put the Bucks, who prop up their division, ahead with a deflected free-kick.

Shaun McAuley should have levelled before Flood headed in Louie Soares' corner early in the second half.

Sean Cooke fired a free-kick just over, but Basingstoke also threatened to win it, Tom Bird shooting just wide.

The replay, as Telford bid to reach the FA Cup second round for the first time in 11 years, will be at the Bucks Head on Tuesday week (18 November, 19:45 GMT).

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"At the start of the day I would have taken it, but we've missed a great opportunity to get through at the first time of asking.

"I'm really disappointed to have conceded a goal which is so sloppy and the defending was poor. I feel sorry for the lads, who put in such a great effort, and our supporters, who were fantastic.

" It was a difficult pitch, puddles everywhere and it was difficult to clear your lines in the second half. The rain kept coming down heavily and that made it difficult. We have some tired legs but we have to be ready for our next league game with Altrincham on Wednesday."
