Form side Luton Town extended their unbeaten league run to 11 games and moved to the top of League Two with a narrow win over struggling Tranmere.

Luke Guttridge had a first-half volley tipped over by Tranmere goalkeeper Peter Brezovan before Mark Cullen put two chances wide from good positions.

The Hatters took the lead when substitute Ricky Miller curled past Brezovan into the top corner.

Mark Tyler made a late save from Kayode Odejayi's header to secure the points.

Tranmere are on a 12-game winless streak in the league which stretches back to August and sit 23rd in the table on 12 points.

Luton Town first-team coach Hakan Hayrettin told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Hayrettin on Luton v Tranmere

"It was another day where we had to work hard. We had to grind out a result. We had to do the right things in the right areas and we deserved it in the end.

"He [Ricky Miller] has that capability. He does it day in and day out in training. Going out on loan to Dover has helped him out immensely. He'll run, he'll chase and he'll hassle. That's the ethos of this team.

"Overall if you win 1-0 home or away it's fantastic. But I've got to say, the support again was unbelievable. They drive that team on.

"Sometimes you're not going to play the best. But you've got to be firm, you've got to be disciplined, you've got to have that professionalism and we push teams back. It's regimental."
