Altrincham 1-1 Grimsby Town

Scott Leather scored a late equaliser for Altrincham to deny Grimsby three points in the race for promotion.

Lenell John-Lewis had a header ruled out for offside as the Mariners pressed for the opening goal.

Nathan Arnold forced home goalkeeper Stuart Coburn into a good save before breaking the deadlock with a stunning long-range strike.

The hosts earned a point with minutes remaining when Sean Williams' cross was converted by Leather from 12 yards.

Conference leaders Barnet's 3-1 win over AFC Telford means second-placed Grimsby are now eight points behind at the top of the table.

Grimsby manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

Hurst on Altrincham v Grimsby Town

"I don't think we played as well as we would have liked today but with such a late equaliser it kind of feels like a little bit like a defeat. The lads are down in the dressing room but 16 points out of 18 in the last six games; I think any team team would take that.

"We have to be humble and respect the point that we've got but again I would have liked us to have played better.

"We had a couple of opportunities and certainly with the goal we had an opportunity to clear the ball. We didn't clear it long enough and it came back at us with a good ball in."
