Charlie Strutton's first goal of the season secured Braintree's first win in 11 league games with a 1-0 victory over Wrexham in the Conference.

Strutton's free-kick struck the defensive wall but he lashed home the rebound for Braintree's first goal in over nine hours of play in the league.

Wrexham were reduced to 10 men with seven minutes left when Blaine Hudson was sent off for a second yellow card.

Kevin Wilkin's side have now gone seven league games without a win.

Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin told BBC Radio Wales:

"I'm really disappointed with the performance. We haven't rolled our sleeves up and I think that's the first time this season we haven't got competitive in a game.

"Braintree were sharper and far hungrier than what we were and deserved to win the game.

"I can only apologise to the travelling supporters for such a lacklustre performance."
