Pardew's Newcastle had won just five games in 20014 before their recent good run

A Newcastle United fan group calling for the removal of manager Alan Pardew says its stance has not been altered by the team's recent resurgence.

A 2-0 win at West Brom on Sunday was Newcastle's fifth in a row in all competitions and moved the Magpies up to eighth place in the Premier League.

But prior to that Newcastle had won just five games in the whole of 2014.

"A good run of results will not alter our position. Our stance remains the same," the sackpardew.com, external group said.

"While stability is often offered as a reason to keep him in post, it is self evident that his very presence and the manner in which he gets his results creates an instability.

"He is not a unifying figure that the club's fans can ever stand behind."

Pardew joined United in 2010 and was given an eight-year contract extension in 2012 after they finished fifth.

He has since led the club to finishes of 16th and 10th in the top flight, although in the second half of last season the team's form dipped alarmingly, with just 16 points won from a possible 57.

Supporters have brandished sackpardew.com banners at a number of matches this season but the 53-year-old has retained the backing of owner Mike Ashley.

"The narrative that is currently being pushed is that Newcastle United fans are 'fickle', which we are keen to dispel," the group added in a statement to BBC Sport.

"It would be fickle for us to let five games change opinions borne out of more than two years of wretched performances."

The upturn began with victory over Leicester City on 18 October before further league wins against Tottenham,Liverpool and West Brom.

A 2-0 win at Manchester City, meanwhile, took Newcastle into the last eight of the League Cup.

But sackpardew.com's statement added: "Throughout his career, Alan Pardew has shown the ability to put together a run of results. These are typically short-lived."

The group added that many problems had been overturned "through luck more than judgement", and claimed the likes of Mehdi Abeid and Ayoze Perez - who has scored in each of Newcastle's last three wins - have only been included due to injuries.

Pardew has nevertheless received praise for turning the tide.

Predecessor Kevin Keegan hailed his "character", adding: "You don't go to places like Tottenham and Man City and win without having great team spirit."

Newcastle defender Daryl Janmaat, meanwhile, said he and his team-mates "do not want" another manager.
